Step 2 continued

Each shutter should be reduced to its smallest size before continuing.

Step 2 continued

All shutters should now be reduced to their smallest size.  This makes moving the shutters very easy.  NEVER move the shutters unless they are reduced to their smallest size.  If they are moved when expanded it can cause damage to the rails.

Step 3

By putting one hand at the top and one hand in the middle and applying a slight pull back with the hand in the middle, now you can move the shutters.  GO SLOW.  The idea is to keep the shutter vertical.  If the shutter leans or gets crooked it will catch and scratch the rails or worse not move at all for you.  KEEP IT VERTICAL! They move easy when you do.   When opening, move them all to the back porch for an open view of the ocean.

Take stacks of shutters and move them to a point that you can expand them.  Remember to keep them vertical when moving in position to expand.

Lock shutters by turning the silver lock mechanism.  This can be tricky.  You might have to slightly lift on the handles for the shutters and turn the lock with the other hand.  Turn the lock all the way until it rotates.  Just hearing the lock is not enough.  Turn it all the way.  You will feel it go past when it engages.

Step 4 continued

All should be finished as each shutter is locked with the other.
